Software Developer Internship 

Who are we? 

We are a bespoke software development house, based in central-Bristol. Working across different sectors and with the latest technology, we deliver high-quality bespoke software projects. We work with technically ambitious companies to help them meet their business goals. Collaboration and teamwork are key ingredients to our success. With a team of around 60 people, it’s easy to get to know everyone. Who do we need?

We’re looking for enthusiastic people, with an interest in technology who would like to join us for our Software Developer summer internship in 2025. We’re looking for people who love thinking creatively and outside of the box to solve problems, who can communicate their ideas, and who enjoy working in teams. 

Many of our interns go on to work for us permanently once they’ve graduated, so we are looking for people who aspire to stay in Bristol long term and pursue a career with us. 

Requirements 

Highly motivated to learn about software development, or pursuing a degree in a STEM subject, preferably in your second year of university.
Curiosity and passion for solving challenging problems using technology.
Ability to communicate effectively and work well in a team environment.
Have a willingness to learn.

What can we offer you?

We offer an 8-week long in person summer internship, usually throughout July – August, based in our central-Bristol office. Our internships start with an internal training programme which covers key technologies and project processes. From here you will work within project teams either on real life customer projects, or on developing new features for our in-house software.

Our internships provide an excellent way to explore software development as a career, as well as a great opportunity to learn transferable skills for a range of demanding roles within the tech industry. Throughout your time with us you’ll have input, support and training from our developers and managers. 

As well as learning and getting experience on real life projects you will be fully immersed in the fun culture at Ghyston, with many social activities planned over the summer. You will have the chance to explore the brilliant city of Bristol and make new friends.

Our recruitment process 

Submit your application

Apply to us by clicking the ‘Apply To Position’ button on our careers page – everything on our application form is optional. We recommend you provide us with enough information to produce a clear picture of yourself and your experience.

Stage 1 - Online test 

After submitting your online application, we will invite you to take an online test to assess your aptitude for coding. Don’t worry if you do not have a lot of previous knowledge of coding. We are looking for potential, which we consider along with your application.

Stage 2 - Initial interview

If you’re successful at the first stage, we will invite you to an initial Zoom interview with one of our Software Developers. You will work through some exercises to test your aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Stage 3 - Final stage interview

If you are successful at the initial interview, we will invite you to an extended in person interview in our central-Bristol office. You will work on some technical challenges alongside our Software Developers and also meet with our People team for a Culture and Values chat to make sure we are a good match for one another. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask us any questions you might have.
